The yellow girl got lost...

The yellow girl got lost. She was lost in an impossible space where it was all dark and cold. It was frightening and she never meant to arrive in such a place. And there is no telling how long she was there. For a good while it went unnoticed but thankfully, barely perceptible in the corner of her eyes, a single speck of light remained.

She began to walk towards it. People often warn that you shouldn’t do such things but she did so regardless. She can be very courageous when the moment strikes. The distance was almost unbearable and it made her feet hurt. It seemed like she would never find this light source, at least not until her legs eroded and she dragged along on stumps. But sometimes she is over-dramatic and of course that did not happen. After what seemed like an age she did make it.

When she was right on top of it she could see that it was only as large as a grain of sand. It was so beautiful that there are no words available to justly describe the significance, power and loveliness of this tiny speck. Her eyes pooled wide with tearful awe and a smile erupted on her face for the first time in forever. This smile was a wonder in itself and the tiny spark amplified its radiance beyond measure, making the yellow girl squint her eyes in the white pleasure of the light.

Her spirit spoke to her body and her hand moved without thinking. It reached, fingers first and outstretched towards that delightful shock of light. It was warm and it was kind and she knew in that moment that she would go to the ends of the earth to seek more of it and to share it with others. A laugh bubbled up through her being, pushing the fear aside as it made its way towards that light.

And in that moment of joy she was transported. She landed rather unceremoniously in a place we now know to be Colchester. She landed here with a thud and with a bump. I’m sure you may find evidence upon her skin because she does bruise very easily, but I assure you that she doesn’t mind. It took a while, and lots of blinking, for the light inside her eyes to dull down enough to see exactly where she was. But I assure you she was not displeased.

She took her first steps into the world here and now she is walking those streets, making a beginning on this quest. She will see you very soon my friends and help you to find your happy place. If you happen upon her in the meantime, do be sure to give directions.
